Time change is this weekend!
Don't forget, it's time to spring forward! Turn your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night, so you'll be on time for all the meetings this week at the world-famous Bellaire Club.
Membership Memo
Maybe it was spring fever, but very few folks showed up for the general membership meeting last week at the Bellaire Club.
We have scheduled a "Do-Over" meeting of the general membership forSunday, March 28. We have several important topics that must be voted on by the membership - including a possible dues increase - so be sure to show up and help decide how your club is run.
The Club really needs funding, to keep providing an oasis of sobriety in southwest Houston. Thanks to all who have paid their dues. It's still (only) $15 per month or $150 for an entire year. Times are tough...but we need to keep our bills paid and the lights on! Think about putting an extra buck in the basket if you can. We need your enthusiastic support!
Meeting Notes
Arch A. is chairing the $2 Friday meeting, and this week's leader will be Ben H.
Jane E. is chairing this week's Sunday noon meeting, with Mark Z. as the leader.
The Monday noon Men's meeting was moved to the Bellaire Club with the help of our very own Larry A. Check out this weekly guy gathering, where there's a relaxed format and good sobriety. Bring a sack lunch and grab a cup of coffee or soft drink from the coffee bar.
The Women's Emergency Room meeting, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, is a long-standing Bellaire Club tradition and a weekly gathering for ladies only. Stop in and grab some coffee to go with the cookies that are usually on hand.
Fun Facts, AA Department
Bill W. wrote more than 150 articles in the AA Grapevine between 1945 and 1970. He also served as Senior Adviser to the magazine. His articles are collected in the anthology The Language of the Heart.
AA Around Town
The Houston City Wide Group will hold its speaker and pot luck dinner on Saturday, March 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The meeting is held at the Council on Alcohol & Drugs, 303 Jackson Hill Street. Harris S. from Austin is this week's scheduled speaker. The HCWG strives to bring people from all groups in Houston, Galveston and surrounding areas for one great night of fellowship. No child care is available, teens & adults welcomed.
Celebrate!
If you are having an AA Anniversary, please put your name, sobriety date and which meeting where you plan to celebrate on the big white board. AA birthdays are celebrated at the last meeting(s) of the month. If you'd like to honor someone in the Fellowship celebrating a birthday, please consider making a donation to the Bellaire Club in that person's name. Gift cards are available at the coffee bar.
