The next full membership meeting of the Bellaire Club will be Saturday, March 6 at 1:00 pm. All dues paying members are encouraged to attend and help make the decisions that keep our club an oasis of recovery.
Remember, it's only $15 a month to join the Bellaire Club. Or, you can pay $150 for an entire year. We need your support. You can put your dues in an envelope, and give them to the coffee bar staff.
Meeting Notes
The chair leader for the Friday $2 meeting, held at 12:15 P.M., is Arch A., with leader Fran B.
Jane E. will chair the Sunday noon meeting, and this week’s leader will be Anne Marie K.
The 8 p.m. meeting on Wednesday is still going strong, but we need folks to lend their support. Come on by the club for a good mid-week boost to your sobriety.
Check out the food and fellowship at the We’ve Only Just Begun meeting, held each Friday at 8 p.m.
Birthday Meetings
Milestones of sobriety, or AA birthdays, are celebrated during the last meetings of the month. So, please be sure to put your name (first name and last initial) and sobriety date on white board in the big meeting room. Also, tell us where you’ll celebrate!
A great way to recognize AA members who are celebrating is to make contributions to the Bellaire Club in their honor. Cards are available at the coffee bar.
Fun facts, AA department
AA’s first International Convention was held in July, 1950. Some 3,000 AA members attended meetings held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. One of the most significant events during that convention was the adoption of the Twelve Traditions. Also, Dr. Bob’s gave his last public message to the Fellowship, encouraging members to practice kindness and to “keep it simple.”
For information about attending the International Convention that will be held this July in San Antonio, go to AA’s web-site, at www.aa.org. Just remember (to look for) the Alamo!
AA Around Town
A new “P11” meeting will begin at the Delta Club on Monday, March 8. The meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. The Delta Club is located at 6400 Westpark, Suite 355. This will be a discussion group. AA’s Pamphlet 11 was written by a group of doctors in AA, who discussed medication and drugs for alcoholics in recovery.
Parting thought
“God writes a lot of comedy…the trouble is, he’s stuck with so many bad actors who don’t know how to play funny.” – Garrison Keillor
You know what they say: "If you've had a bad week, you need a meeting. If you've had a good week, the meeting needs YOU!" So...come on over to the Bellaire Club. There's something for everyone! You will find the meeting schedule and events calendar at www.bellaireclub.org.
