Our permanent new home at 5625A Beechnut will open soon, with a full coffee bar and kitchen, thanks to a generous benefactor who pledged to “match” contributions from club members and friends. With the anonymous challenge and funds from a bake sale sponsored by the Women’s ER Group, the club will be complete in every way. Meanwhile, the decorative painting on the club continues, with Arch A. and Robert P. working every day on the bright and cheerful motif. Thanks to the Coach B. and the volunteer painters who have yielded tape, brushes and rollers to make the new Bellaire Club a very special place!

The “soft” opening of the club is tentatively scheduled for early July – once the floors are stripped and sealed next week, we’ll start moving in our new furniture and holding meetings in the new place, located at the east corner of the Maplewood Shopping Center, near Beechnut and Pontiac. A grand reopening party is in the works.

Meanwhile, meetings will continue in our temporary location at 5653 Beechnut, where new and revived groups are drawing rave reviews. Be sure to check out the “God Squad” meeting on Mondays at 8 p.m., the new “Where U At” group on Wednesdays at noon, and the “Ask-it Basket” at 8 p.m. Wednesdays. There’s also a revived 8 p.m. Sunday group now going strong. The Women’s ER Group, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, is selling delicious baked goods to benefit the new club. Stop by for a treat!

Robert P. will chair the Friday $2 meeting at 12:15 p.m., and Anne Marie K. will be our leader.

Ann N., who just celebrated 25 years of continuous sobriety, will lead the Sunday Noon meetings in July.

You can become a member of the Bellaire Club by paying monthly dues of $20. Or, you can support the club with an annual membership of just $200 for a full year. Either way, you’re helping to support the Club’s primary purpose of carrying the message to the alcoholics out there who are still suffering. Please consider joining, so that we can continue to grow and offer an oasis of sobriety in southwest Houston.

As we prepare to elect a new Board of Directors next month, remember that board members must be members of the Bellaire Club.

Please sign up on the big white board in the main meeting room if you are celebrating an “AA Birthday” this month. We’ll take it with us to the new club, where we will celebrate these important milestones of sobriety at the last meetings of the month.
