BELLAIRE CLUB NEWSLETTER
January 17, 2013
Uh oh! We have competition for the A.A. acronym!
We have a few updates, so I’ll get right to it.
On March 8th-10th, The Houston Intergroup Association is having it 50th Year Anniversary. Come help them celebrate!
They will be having a Convention over three days at the Westin, Memorial City, Houston, TX. To find out more and register, go to
http://www.aahouston.org , and the link is right there on the front page.
Join the Bellaire Club” – $20.00 per month or $200 for the year. It’s a great way to participate in your recovery and to help keep
the doors open at the Bellaire Club.
We have some new ‘reply to’ or ‘mail to’ email addresses now, testing is complete, just need to get them up there,
probably by Saturday 19th.
Still waiting for a few more January Birthdays to be posted, so if you want to celebrate that with us, put it up on the big white board
in the main meeting room, along with the amount of years, and the group you would like to do that with.
(Also, if you wait till the last minute to put it on the board, it may not make it to thenewsletter)
Arch A with 32 years
Robert P with 30 years
Anne Marie with 29 years
Jonathan L with 23 years
James B with 15 years
Sunny S with 10 years
Daniel T with 3 years
Julie F with 3 years
Kathleen D with 1 year
(more to come, I’m sure)
It almost seems needless to say, but always good to remind:
*Please let the meeting that you consider your ‘home’ meeting know of your intention to celebrate with them so they will make sure to have your chip.*
Saturday Night at the Movies:
Expand your circle of sober friendships by making it out to Movie Night, every
Saturday at 9PM. Popcorn $1 and movie free!!! The movie is always a good one, one that most will want to see without
even knowing what it is. BUT!…the more important part is the fellowship that occurs and the sober friends you can make.
Other meetings of note…
The Women’s Hope & Healing meeting for January, Mondays at 12:00 noon in the small meeting room, will be Camora – with Mary as backup.
Tuesday Night 8:00PM is Scottish Jack’s Big Book Study with Scott T. at the helm. It’s always a great weeknight meeting, and for those of you who haven’t opened your
Big Book lately…here’s your chance.
Someone sent me something about the Tuesday noon meeting, and unfortunately, it is GONE! Don’t know where it went. But it was something along the lines of needing
some attendance support. Please send that again, and I will save it immediately for the next newsletter.
Wednesday 6:30am “Red-eye Special” meeting. It’s a small but happy meeting that really needs the support of a few more early risers. Thanks!
Also the Wednesday ‘nooner’ meeting is being headed up by Alice G this month.
Arch A. is chairing the Friday Two Dollar Meeting (12:15) for the month of January. He has asked Mary H. to lead this Friday Noon Meeting.
Please come and bring someone with you!
Friday Night 8:00 is the “We’ve Just Begun” meeting. This is a great meeting if you are new to sobriety, and really looking for others to connect with.
Besides finding others that are new, you will find others with long term sobriety that come especially to be of some kind of service to newcomers. If you are looking
for a sponsor, this is also a good meeting to find one in.
Ed B. will chair the Sunday Noon Meeting (12:15) in January. Seating is limited so come early.
This Sunday, January 20th, at 11:00 AM, at The Bellaire Club (5625A Beechnut at Hillcroft), Monte E. is going to share his 30+ years worth of experience, strength and hope with us.
Monte’s home group is The Clear Creek Club but he goes to many different meetings including The Delta Club, The Fort Bend Club and The Rose Rich Group, to name a few. Monte
is a very likeable man with a great story so try to join us so you can find out what he was like, what happened and what he is like now. While we were talking on the phone, Monte
said something that I am going to pass on to you: “With the help of this program, I have gained a great new sense of freedom. I have learned to mind my own business and
allow you to be you, without being critical or judgmental.” Hope to see you there!
It helps to be redundant with this one: Friday and Sunday “noon” meetings start at 12:15 and end at 1:15.
If you’re new to the mailing list, definitely head back to the our main website and check the meeting schedule for other meetings listed.
Also, let us know if you have something special going on in your home group, or you wish to announce any changes within a certain meeting.
Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
Just get it in no later than Wednesday night by around 10:00pm.
“Whenever you feel a little depression, or sadness coming on, just remember: Somewhere in the world, someone is pulling on a door that says “Push”.
So far, that’s about it for now. More to come!
