March 21st, 2013

Greetings all!

Mmm….remember that night?….nope…I didn’t think so. But then, neither did I.
It is nice…not having to live this way anymore!

Keep those updates comin’ folks!
….(speaking of updates, if there are new chairs, leaders, or sobriety birthday announcements, please let us know at .

On a more serious note:

Andy G. has given us the sad news of the quick passing of his brother, Jimmy. Since we are all …well,..a new kind of family (albeit a strange one)
we are invited to show our support for our brother Andy in his grief by attending the Memorial Service at
Bering Methodist Church 1440 Harold
Houston Tx 77006

Saturday March 23rd @ 12:00 Noon

Reception to follow at Andy’s:
6603 Grovewood
Houston Texas 77008

SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!! (As in a service to the Bellaire Club!)
Apparently quite a few folks have thought it of no consequence to dial 411 for information,
not knowing (or worse NOT CARING) that the Bellaire Club is charged TWO DOLLARS for each call!
C’mon! Do we need to put a security camera over the phone?

Speaking of phones:….
Intergroup Phones are coming up!
Yes, it’s true! We actually know ahead of time!

May 10th through 13th
So, set some time aside, find the sign-up sheet, and commit to a time. I think it is in
2 or 4 hour increments (I’ll know more soon about that) throughout the day.

The Bellaire Club Anniversary is coming up in April!

32nd Annual Celebration on the 27th of April 2013.
Time: 1:30 (after the noon meeting lets out)
Annual Chili-Cook-Off (So chili-cookers get out you award winning recipes!!)

**Mary F. and the rest of the Board of the Bellaire Club have floated the notion that getting some of our
founding and long-time members to send in some memories
of some of the great moments from the past, or even some of our more somber moments of
struggle, and how the club got through the hard times as well as the good times. Personally, I view our travels and adventures
through Sobriety as a mythological Hero’s/Heroine’s Journey. Yes, there were losses, ..but definitely some wins!
Even just 2 or 3 paragraphs…if we wind up with our own Homeric Odyssey, we may have to make a booklet or somethin’ 😉

Join the Bellaire Club” – $20.00 per month or $200 for the year.

It’s a great way to participate in your recovery and to help keep the doors open at the Bellaire Club.

Meeting Announcements

Margaret D. chairs the Sunday Noon Meeting (12:15) in March. This Sunday the leader will be Johnny M.

Al M. chairs the Sunday 11:00 Speaker Meeting. Joe R. from The Parc will be telling his story.

The Women’s Hope & Healing meeting for March, Mondays at 12:00 noon in the small meeting room, will be chaired by Mary H.

At the same time there is the Monday Men’s Meeting at noon in the big meeting room, just unsure who is heading that up this month.

Tuesday Noon: there is a Meeting and is really needing some support.

Tuesday Night 8:00PM is Scottish Jack’s Big Book Study with Scott T. at the helm. It’s always a great weeknight meeting, and for those of you who haven’t opened your
Big Book lately…here’s your chance.

Wednesday 6:30am “Red-eye Special” meeting. It’s a small but happy meeting that really needs the support of a few more early risers. Thanks!

Also, Bryce G. will be chairing the Wednesday ‘nooner‘ meeting for the month of March. Come on over and participate!

Looks like Joe J. will be heading up the Ask-it Basket Wednesday 8:00PM meeting. Correct me if this info is off. I was waiting for confirmation…then just decided to go with it.

Robert P. chairs/leads the Thursday noon meeting, always a great meeting, so make it to this one!

Peggy S. is chairing the Thursday evening Women’s ER 6:30 meeting for the month of March. This Thursday night Marie will be leading.

The Doug D’B Meeting on Thursday 8:00 is always a great mid-week meeting to catch. Besides that, Doug’s accidental irreverent wit will keep you in stitches.

Arch A. is chairing the Friday Two Dollar Meeting (12:15) for the month of March. Alice G. will lead Friday 22nd.

Charles R. will be chairing the Friday night 8:00 “We’ve Just Begun” meeting with Bobby leading the 22nd. This is a great meeting if you are new to sobriety, and really looking for others to connect with.
Besides finding others that are new, you will find others with long term sobriety that come especially to be of some kind of service to newcomers.

Saturday Night, Ashli L. tells me the 6:30 Speaker Meeting will have Margaret telling her story on the 23rd.

It helps to be redundant with this one: Friday and Sunday “noon” meetings start at 12:15 and end at 1:15.

If you’re new to the mailing list, definitely head back to the our main website and check the meeting schedule for other meetings listed.
Also, let us know if you have something special going on in your home group, or you wish to announce any changes within a certain meeting.
Send it to
Just get it in no later than Wednesday night by around 10:00pm.
