Greetings all!

Join the Bellaire Club” – $20.00 per month or $200 for the year.

It’s a great way to participate in your recovery by giving back
and to help keep the doors open at the Bellaire Club.
It helps us
purchase supplies, pay utilities, literature and Big Books, etcetera.

Fireside Chat w/the Prez.

Company’s coming! That has been the theme of most of the board of trustee’s
activities these last few weeks. We have been in our new facility for over two
years now and it is beginning to show. First of all, I’m sure you have noticed
the new chair rails that are not only decorative but functional as well, protecting the
walls from the damages of the chairs. The black spot and dark spots caused
by the walls being used as headrests are still with us while we
develop a design that will alleviate that problem.  Then everyone can relax
and enjoy the meetings and leave no marks behind. Or only marks that
can be easily removed. Don’t those floors look great! They will be done professionally
every third Monday of the month and the rest of the club will be done every other month.
After much tossing of ideas, we finally have a money drop for coffee and soda contributions.
Very discretely placed on the kitchen counter by Darwin H., Mary H.’s husband.
You can give freely now, knowing your money is safe. The Board worked through
13 items on an extensive agenda at its monthly meeting last
Sunday. The board voted  to do away with the old Drunk Poet’s Society.
Unfortunately, nothing was suggested to replace it. It provided a minor activity
between major ones. A game night was suggested, but that was not well
supported when we tried it last year. Maybe things are different now?  Any other suggestions?
(Besides the 12 & 12 Group challenging the Board of Trustees to a volleyball match! Not
even Ted R. could get anyone to bet on us!! ) Be on the lookout for the appearance of more
improvements, things like surround sound, thanks to the generous donation of Darwin and Mary H.
Great for the movies and perhaps music before or between meetings. And dances!
Also look for the possibility of a sassy commercial glass fronted refrigerator for our drinks.
And some new “professional” meeting schedules that can’t be used for scratch paper. Plus some
things to make the holidays really special for our AA family. Alice “No Spot Left Behind” G. was appointed
head of an ad hoc committee to clean up and reorganize the kitchen. She was joined by
Mary H., Robert P. and Scott T. With a team like that, dirt and disorder do not stand a
chance. At the last board meeting  we did away with all of the “at large” positions and assigned
specific duties to the members. Maintenance of the facility includes Robert P. and Larry A.,
Supplies is headed by Alice G., Literature and chips, Margaret D., Intergroup phones
and assistant treasurer, Mary H. and Scott T. heads publicity of club events and anything
computer related. It seems to be working well and probably will be a keeper.

Another big event worth telling y’all about is the
Fort Bend Club 33rd Anniversary Celebration.
